How Process+ works

Control loop information is contained within an Action Object, which is deployed online for loop monitoring.

Typically, a Process Engineer would configure Process+ Action Objects in the CSense Runtime Manager, and then deploy these online for automated control loop monitoring. A Process+ Action Object is configured by adding existing control loops to the monitoring system, together with the loop definition information, and specifying the appropriate data source for the loop data. Process+ Action Objects can be executed on either real-time or historical data.

Process+ KPIs are automatically generated from the data read from the data sources and can be generated on a scheduled basis, or they can be requested on an ad hoc basis.

Process+ KPIs can be visualized through the Control Loop Performance application on Operations Hub. Follow the steps on Deploying Control Loop Performance application on Operations Hub to setup the Process+ reports.

Getting started with Process+

The following procedure will get a user started with Process+

  1. Ensure that the data source(s) are ready for Process+. See Data sources for which types of data sources are supported.

  2. Create a loop definitions file by following Creating the CSV file. To understand what each property means, see Loop definitions file.

  3. Once the loop definitions file is ready, follow the steps below on how to deploy a Process+ Action Object

    1. Open the CSense Runtime Manager and click the Process+ tab.

    2. Press the Add button and follow Configuring a Process+ Action Object. Note the sections on Histogram bins, Data source and Reporting period selection.

    3. Setup the control mode rules.

    4. Configuring the data sources describes how to connect to the chosen data source.

    5. Deploy the Process+ Action Object.

  4. Once the Process+ Action Object has been successfully deployed, allow the Action Object to execute and generate Process+ KPIs.

  5. Ensure that the steps on Deploying Control Loop Performance application on Operations Hub has been followed.

  6. Open the link provided by the Operations Hub Administrator and login.

  7. An overview of all loops on the CSense machine is viewed. Modify the report filters to the desired reporting period and click Submit.

  8. To view a specific loop's data, click on one of the loops presented in the table below.
